What We Do...

Optical Prime Broadcast is a media production, technical services and consultancy company with experience in broadcast, corporate media and live events production.

Live Events

Optical Prime deliver technical AV services for concerts, conferences, awards shows and other live productions. We provide camera, sound, lighting, projection & display, crew management, rigging and directing services using skilled and experienced crew.

We specialise in filming live music, from a small intimate venue to a multi camera production at Wembley Arena, we handle the whole production process, filming the event for venue display or recorded for broadcast or web use. Our experienced sound engineers manage both venue sound and multi track recording.

Our production history includes The Charlatans, Geri Haliwell, Gurdas Maan, Adnan Sami, The VileEvils, Raymond Froggatt, Jazzy B album launch, Brit Asia TV Music Awards and live sessions, Sikh Channel and Roots Deville festival.

Music Video

Optical Prime provides a full production/direction service for bands and labels looking to visualise their music. Working with as much or little artist involvement as you wish, we take a project from concept to delivery for broadcast, websites, Youtube or any other format requested. Our live production experience is perfect for capturing live performances or sessions from a simple single camera setup to a multi camera production in arena venues.

We also provide production services for video directors and production companies including technical consultancy, lighting (design and gaffer services), camera operation, jib/dolly/grip services, green screen filming, data wrangling and other technical production services (see below)

Camera Services

With a wide range of formats and models available, ensuring you have the right camera and operator for your production is imperative. We've worked with everything from U-Matic to HDCam shooting for broadcast, short films, music video, live events, interviews, motorsport, premier league football, conferences and corporate media. We shoot and manage PSC and multi camera recordings and provides options such as jib, track and car mounts.

Sound Recording

Audio is often overlooked in favour of the visual element of production, however, poor sound is much more noticeable than less than perfect visuals. Optical Prime have the experience of audio systems for a range of productions including multi source location sound and SQN mixing, event audio for conferences, exhibitions and panel discussions, live music and performance recording and post production foley and mixing. Clients and projects include Halifax, RBS and Cadbury

We can also provide experienced boom operators.

Lighting and Electrical Services

Optical Prime have provided lighting and electrical services around Europe. Our skilled Gaffer holds current 17th edition electrical certification- a required standard by the BBC, so you can be secure in the knowledge that all lighting and power facilities will be safe to use and comply with health and safety legislation.

We've lit for Film, TV, music video and corporate features, interviews, studios and chromakey setups.

Post Production

Our post production experience spans across broadcast, animation, corporate media, short films, music video and live event editing, multi camera editing, grading, colour correction, effects design, motion graphics, rotoscoping and encoding services.

We use experienced editors with certification in Apple Final Cut Studio and Avid Media Composer as well as extensive knowledge of Adobe software products.

Our experience includes internationally broadcast animation series, features for Brit Asia TV, music videos and corporate features for Omron Electronics, Chyron Broadcast Equipment, Convergys, Barclaycard and SAP.

Studio Services

With a background of working in, managing and supervising the construction of broadcast standard studios, including chromakey (bluescreen and greenscreen) and virtual studios, we can provide the core services of camera, sound and lighting operation along with floor management and the services listed in grip and technical operation below.

Grip and Technical Operation

Skilled operation of production equipment is essential for a smooth production. Optical Prime can provide skilled technicians and operators for a range of kit including jibs, dollys, autocue, talkback systems, projectors and screens, portable greenscreen setup and data management. We can also supply any of these systems on request.

Technical Consultancy

With our wealth of experience across a range of production equipment and practices, we're always on hand to offer advice and support from designing a studio to the best format for online media. Whether you are an established production company looking for assistance with a forthcoming production or equipment installation, or you have an idea for a film, advert, music video or other production but don't know where to start, our knowledge and experience offer the perfect solution.

Fixing and Location Assistance

Optical Prime are based in the centre of the UK, twenty minutes from the centre of Birmingham. Our central location allows us easy access to London, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, Derby, Nottingham, Leeds and Leicester as well as North and South Wales in two hours or less. We can offer assistance in finding locations, services, kit and crew in the above locations and anywhere else within the British Isles.
